Barangay councilman wanted for murder falls

MANILA, Philippines —  A barangay councilor and former base commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), who is wanted for murder, was arrested in M’lang, North Cotabato on Sunday, police announced yesterday.

Kidato Abpa of Barangay Madidis in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur, was arrested at a police checkpoint in Barangay Bagontapay at 11:43 a.m., Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao director Maj. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. said in a text message.

Silo said Abpa was apprehended based on a warrant for murder issued by a court in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.

Abpa is a former battalion commander of the MILF’s base command in General Salipada K. Pendatun town in Maguindanao del Sur.
