Magnitude 4 quake rocks Leyte area
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4 earthquake rocked several areas in Leyte yesterday morning.
State seismologists said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 6:09 a.m.
The quake’s epicenter was located 38 kilometers north of Abuyog town, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
It was felt at Intensity 3 in the municipalities of Abuyog, Dulag and MacArthur.
Intensity 2 was felt in Tanauan and Tolosa in Leyte, and Balangiga in Eastern Samar.
Meanwhile, instrumental Intensity 1 was recorded in Mahaplag town.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected from the temblor, which was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.8 quake that shook Leyte on May 3.
