800 Pampanga infants receive vaccines
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — Up to 800 infants in this province received routine and catch-up immunization against hepatitis B, measles, polio and tetanus during a recent vaccination drive.
The immunization was part of a campaign of the Department of Health against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) to create healthier and more resilient communities.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the activity intends to ensure that all eligible individuals receive necessary vaccines to reduce morbidity and mortality rates due to VPDs.
“Our objective is to bring health services to our kababayan. I hope this will not be a one-time event, but the start of a strong commitment of parents and guardians to bring their children for vaccination. Vaccines are safe and effective as we are now celebrating 50 years of protection against vaccine preventable diseases,” Vergeire said.
