CCLEX now open to motorists

Caecent Magsumbol - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) was opened to motorists yesterday.

The CCLEX is designed for a maximum speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour, but the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) is implementing a limit of 60 kph during initial operations.

Motorists are reminded not to stop at any area along the expressway.

Cash payments are accepted in the meantime. Motorists are advised to prepare for the exact toll: P90 for Class 1, P180 for Class 2 and P270 for Class 3  vehicles.

The local Toll Regulatory Council approved the rates.

The designated lane for cyclists and pedestrians is expected to open in July.

“We are happy and excited to finally welcome motorists to CCLEX, the new icon of Cebu,” CCLEC president and general manager Allan Alfon said in a statement issued yesterday.

CCLEX will use an all-electronic toll collection system by June.

President Duterte and and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) Chairman Manuel Pangilinan led the inauguration of the bridge on Wednesday.

The bridge, which is the longest in the country at 8.9 kilometers, is also the tallest.

The expressway is a project of CCLEC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the MPTC, in partnership with the city governments of Cordova and Cebu.

Aside from easing traffic congestion in Metro Cebu, the expressway is seen to spark socioeconomic development in Cebu province.
