Boy, 3, dies, 6 hurt in Mandaluyong fire

MANILA, Philippines — A three-year-old boy died and six others were injured when a fire broke out in Mandaluyong yesterday morning.
The child’s charred remains were recovered by firefighters in the barracks of Cebuana Lechon along J.P. Rizal street in Barangay Namayan.
In a report, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started at 6:38 a.m. and reached the second alarm in two minutes.
The fire destroyed two other establishments before it was extinguished.
According to reports, the boy was left alone while his father was busy butchering pigs.
Six people were injured, two of them residents of Barangay Namayan who suffered second-degree burns, the BFP said.
Two firefighters were treated by first responders for lacerations.
The BFP said 13 firetrucks responded.
Arson probers said the cause of the fire is still being investigated. — Emmanuel Tupas
