EPD deploys all-female cops at Pasig checkpoint

MANILA, Philippines — To promote gender equality and highlight the role of women in law enforcement, the Eastern Police District (EPD) has deployed all-female police officers at checkpoints within its jurisdiction.
Acting EPD director Col. Villamor Tuliao said the all-female checkpoint teams were stationed along Urbano Velasco Avenue in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig in two shifts: 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The initiative is part of National Women’s Month celebration, with the theme “Babae sa lahat ng sektor, aangat ang bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
Tuliao said the deployment recognizes the contributions of female police officers in improving community relations, public safety and security.
He said the presence of female officers at checkpoints fosters trust and cooperation between police and the public.
“This initiative is a testament that women in the police force are strong, resilient and professional. Gender is not a hindrance to serving the country, but a commitment to maintaining peace and order,” Tuliao said.
