Diarrhea kills 2, downs 40 in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two children have died and more than 40 others have been affected with diarrhea on Bongo Island in Maguindanao.

Naguib Sinarimbo of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) local government ministry yesterday said efforts to contain the outbreak are underway in coordination with the local government of Parang.

Radio Mindanao Network’s dxMY reported that the victims get their supply of water from deep wells, which could be contaminated with e-coli.

The BARMM health ministry said its deployed teams to get samples of the water source of the victims.
