MANILA, Philippines —  The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday warned the public against fake hotel bookings, travel packages and other online promotions as demand for trips rises during the “ber” months.

NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano urged Metro Manila residents to verify hotels, resorts, airlines and travel agencies before making payments.

Scammers may use copied logos and photographs, newly created accounts and fake websites or social media pages, the NCRPO said.

Abrahano advised travelers to check booking details through an establishment’s official website or verified contact channels and avoid sending payments to personal accounts for business transactions.

“If the offer is too good to be true, stop and verify. Do not be pressured by supposed flash sales or sellers who insist on immediate payment,” Abrahano said.
