Complaints mount vs colorum courier firms
MANILA, Philippines — Complaints against the alleged malpractices committed by unregistered or colorum courier services continued to mount amid calls for investigation on how these companies are being allowed to operate without the necessary permits, a group said yesterday.
In a statement, the Citizens Crime Watch (CCW) said it has received complaints from the public about misdeliveries, non-deliveries and theft by online couriers.
The group’s chief legal counsel Ferdinand Topacio said he endorsed the complaints to CCW national president Diego Magpantay.
Topacio said they would ask Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Gregorio Honasan to act on the matter.
“While we are aware that the DICT has issued a warning against unregistered couriers, nothing concrete has been done to stop their operations,” Topacio said.
He said the House of Representatives should also look into the operations of courier services.
Data from the DICT showed that there are 118 courier services accredited by the department.
