Village chief, 2 others nabbed for drugs

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A village chief, his wife and nephew were arrested in an anti-narcotic operation in Banate town, Iloilo last Sunday.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Roger Belarde of Barangay Dugwakan, his wife Respie and nephew Archie Belarde, who were in an alleged drug den.

The raiding team seized 11 plastic sachets believed to contain shabu, drug paraphernalia, three cell phones, a shotgun and P160 cash.

PDEA said Belarde was the third village chief to be arrested in Banate town and the ninth in Western Visayas.
