Palayan adopts ATM for wages
PALAYAN CITY, Philippines – This provincial capital has outpaced Makati City, the country’s financial district, in terms of paying its employees.
This, after the city government has adopted the automated teller machine (ATM) in disbursing wages unlike Makati which still pays its employees in cash.
Mayor Rianne Cuevas said at least 400 government employees, including rank-and-file, now draw their salaries, allowances and other benefits through the ATM.
Cuevas said the automated payroll system was made possible after she signed a memorandum of agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines
Cuevas said the ATM system is expected to institutionalize transparency and accountability in the bureaucracy which is one of her benchmark administrative reforms.
