MANILA, Philippines — Seventy-two kilos of marijuana with an estimated street value of P101.4 million were intercepted at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) yesterday.

Emerson Rosales, who heads the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)’s National Capital Region field unit, said the illegal drugs, which were concealed in five balikbayan boxes were shipped from Thailand.

The PDEA withheld the names of the shipper and the boxes’ designated receiver as they are the subjects of an investigation.

Drug charges are being readied by the PDEA against the suspects.
