Pacquiao comes to the aid of other Pinoy athletes

-

MANILA, Philippines - World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is at it again, gearing for an upcoming fight. This time, it’s one that will continually provide assistance to athletes who acutely lack support even as they train and set out to bring honor to the country.

Pacquiao himself hails from a family of humble means in General Santos City. He relied mainly on his determination, focused training, and other people’s support as well to rise and become the true boxing legend that he is today.

Many other boxers and other athletes representing the marginalized sector have not been as lucky. A handful who show real potential to bring honor to the country are not getting adequate support and training to achieve their full potential.

For this reason, Pacquiao has committed himself to fight for the rights and welfare of Filipino athletes who have not yet achieved a measure of success. He is enjoining the public to join him in supporting the advocacies of the Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA), which he chairs.

“The PBA which we created aims to give all Filipino athletes the assistance they need and deserve. Filipino athletes strive to bring honor and pride to our country. We have to help each other and let the Philippine flag stand proud anywhere in the world,” Pacquiao said in Filipino.

Miles Roces of PBA said they have stepped up a nationwide campaign to pursue the party-list group’s goal of helping develop struggling Filipino athletes to be the best that they can be, and continue the fight that Pacquiao humbly started.
