Tutors' bonuses lost to robber
SANTIAGO CITY, Philippines – A motorcycle-riding robber ran away with nearly P1 million in mid-year bonuses for teachers of a public school in this premier Isabela city last Friday.
The robber, according to investigator PO3 Sonny Paragas, entered the office of disbursing officer Minerva Rivera of the Department of Education’s Santiago City North district office, and at gunpoint, demanded the cash from her.
Earlier, three school officials in Mauban, Quezon lost P1.543 million also in mid-year bonuses for local teachers to three robbers after they had withdrawn the sum from a bank in Lucena City. – Charlie Lagasca
