Didith Reyessuffered a heart attack, say police
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Singer Didith Reyes who was found dead in her friend’s house in Biñan, Laguna on Wednesday morning suffered a heart attack, a police medico-legal officer said.
Dr. Roy Camarillo, medico-legal officer of the Region 4-A police, said in a report that Reyes – Helen Sta. Maria in real life, in her fifties – died from myocardial infraction or heart attack while asleep.
Camarillo ruled out foul play in Reyes’ death, adding that she had no internal injuries from the vehicular accident that she said she was involved in before her death.
Chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla, regional police director, said Reyes, dubbed as the “Jukebox Queen” in the 1970s, arrived at the house of her friend Girlie Antolin at the Floro Compound in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Biñan town with bruises on her body, which she said she sustained when a vehicle sideswiped her.
Padilla quoted Antolin as saying that Reyes allegedly got weak Tuesday night and was found dead before dawn the following day.
“There were no broken ribs or any head injuries that may have caused her death” Camarillo said.
“But she had a prior mild heart attack sometime ago before (her) fatal heart attack last Wednesday,” he added.
According to Wikipedia, myocardial infraction, commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when the blood supply to the heart is interrupted, commonly due to the blockage of a coronary artery.
Reyes was known for such hits as Araw-Araw, Gabi-Gabi, Nananabik, Hindi Kami Damong Ligaw, Hatiin Natin Ang Gabi, Aliw and Bakit Ako Mahihiya?
