'Never return to the music industry': Britney Spears calls new album rumors 'trash'
MANILA, Philippines — Pop singer Britney Spears has struck down rumors that she is working on a new album, even vowing she will never go back to working in the music industry.
Rumors circulated that Britney was working on her 10th album, her first since 2016's "Glory," even enlisting the help of Charli XCX and Julia Michaels.
The latter has worked with Britney before on the song "Slumber Party," which was on "Glory" alongside co-writers Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, and Justin Tranter.
Such gossip were quickly thrown out the window after Britney posted on her Instagram account a photo of Guido Reni's "Salome holding the head of John the Baptist."
"Just so we're clear most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I'm turning to random people to do a new album… I will never return to the music industry!!!" Britney wrote in the post's caption, adding that she now only writes songs for fun or other people.
Britney also mentioned that she's written over 20 songs for other people in the past two years as a ghostwriter, and even shut down rumors that her memoir "The Woman In Me" was illegally released without her approval.
As it stands, Britney's most recent released are her 2022 collaboration with Elton John "Hold Me Closer" and last year's "Mind Your Business" with rapper will.i.am in their fourth project together.
The singer had a tumultuous time since being released from her years-long conservatorship in November 2021, suffering a miscarriage and divorcing Sam Asghari after 14 months of marriage.
