The easy, electonic sound of Jad Montenegro

Yna De Leon - Radio Republic - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Davao-based musician Jad Montenegro was in town recently, performing live at Radio Republic while she was here.

Her music is very easy to listen to but it’s kind of hard to pigeonhole to a certain type. If not on the first try, the folksy electronic sound will grow on you the more you pin your ears to it. She had experimented on different kinds of music on her early days– having played in electronica, punk and goth bands– before settling to the unique genre she is swiftly getting famous for.

She and her band have two EPS recorded already; one they released last year entitled “Fixed Points and Pendulum”, and their second baby that’s set to be launched on June 2013 called “Detours.”

Jad’s the host of the music magazine show, “Muzika del Sur”, that showcases the rich culture of Mindanao; from their indigenous sound to pop and alternative artists. They take us, and people from all parts of the globe to the sides of Mindanao that aren’t exposed enough with regards to the way musicians here in NCR are being endorsed.
