Carlos Yulo says parents may not be part of wedding with Chloe San Jose
MANILA, Philippines — Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo wants his wedding to longtime girlfriend Chloe San Jose to be an intimate celebration focused on just the two of them.
Carlos and Chloe have been together for six years as of June 2026. On broadcaster Karen Davila’s vlog uploaded on YouTube on September 10, Carlos was asked about their plans to get married and whether he would want his parents to attend the wedding.
“Malinaw seeing both of you na ang tibay ng pagsasama niyo. 'Pag kinasal kayo, would you want your parents to be there?” Karen asked.
Carlos said he would prefer to keep the wedding moment private, emphasizing that the occasion would be about him and Chloe.
“For me, I think because 'yung kasal po namin ‘yan and ako po 'yung... kami po, relationship po namin ‘yan. And mas pipiliin kong kami na lang,” he said.
The gymnast explained that he does not want anything to affect what should be a happy moment for them.
“Ayaw ko ding masira 'yung moment namin para sa aming dapat dalawa,” Carlos added.
He also acknowledged that there have been issues with his family that he has already chosen to forgive.
“And marami na din silang ginawa na pinatawad ko na and hanggang doon na lang din po,” he said.
Carlos reiterated that, should they get married, he wants the occasion to be filled with love and happiness.
“So, hindi po. Yes, gusto ko sa amin lang po ‘yun, and I really want it to be really full of love and joy kapag nangyari po ‘yun,” he said.
Chloe agreed with Carlos’ preference.
“Of course, they’re your parents, you know. What I think, what he’s comfortable with, then that would be what I’m comfortable with,” she said.
For Chloe, the wedding would ultimately be about her and Carlos regardless of who attends.
“I think it’s because it’s really, that wedding day, it will really be about us,” she said.
“Whatever the outside people do or the guests do, I think we would just have, we would really have our eyes locked onto each other. So with or without them, we would have our eyes locked onto each other so it wouldn’t bother me as much,” she added.
Carlos and Chloe have been open about their relationship in previous interviews.
During their appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” in March 2026, Carlos shared that Chloe has a good relationship with his siblings, Eldrew and Elaiza Yulo.
The couple has been together since 2020, with their relationship continuing to draw public attention alongside Carlos’ successful gymnastics career.
