6 Quezon centenarians receive P100,000

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines — Six residents in this city have received P100,000 each after reaching 100 years old.
The cash gift, provided under the Expanded Centenarians Act, was handed over to the beneficiaries during a ceremony at the Lucena City government complex on Friday.
The ceremony was led by regional officials of the National Commission of Senior Citizens, in partnership with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the city social welfare and development office.
It was part of the observance of Elderly Filipino Week 2026, which honors and recognizes the role of the elderly in nation-building.
Two beneficiaries personally received the gift in the presence of their relatives, while one had her gift delivered at home.
For three centenarians who had passed away after reaching the milestone age, the cash gift was received by their surviving relatives.
The centenarians were identified as Guadalupe Maningas, Medesta Mendiola, Severiana Paulino, Rosita Queaño, Escasa Salvacion and Lyndia Tolentino.
Relatives said the recognition meant more than just financial assistance, but a tribute to the centenarians’ long lives, sacrifices and contributions to their families and communities.
OSCA-Lucena chief Nick Pedro Jr. said the contributions of senior citizens to their families and communities deserve lasting recognition.
Meanwhile, in Isabela, centenarian Felipa Corpuz of San Mateo town received her cash incentive from the provincial government.
