CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A worker was injured after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing a pedestrian lane in Taytay, Rizal on Saturday.

Mico Joseph Claro, 27, was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City for treatment of a broken hip, head injury and contusions in the body.

Reports said Claro and his relatives were crossing a pedestrian lane along the Manila East road in Barangay Dolores when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Zabdiel Joseph Mazana, 23.

Claro’s niece, Bianca Ella Olosim, 22, said they came from a resort and were on their way to their rented room when the incident occurred at past 2 a.m.

Olosim said the impact threw Claro several meters away from the pedestrian lane.

Responding police officers brought Mazana to the police station for questioning.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries were filed against Mazana before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
