MANILA, Philippines — Actress Kylie Padilla broke down in tears during a TikTok live on Wednesday, September 9, as she announced her decision to end her online pairing with South Korean TikToker Ethan, also known as Eunseok.

Kylie, who became part of the TikTok pairing dubbed “KyThan” with Ethan, said she needed to step away from the content after becoming emotionally attached to him.

She also announced her departure from Code Black, the group that includes Ethan and fellow South Korean TikTokers Johnny and Seung.

Kylie had been going live on TikTok almost daily, including while working, and had participated in “Player Knockout” or PK battles with other creators.

However, the actress said the experience had taken a toll on her, particularly amid the bashing she had received since KyThan gained attention on the platform.

During her emotional live, Kylie asked her followers not to direct negativity toward Ethan, Johnny and Seung following her decision to step away.

“Don’t go after them. Protect them too, please. After this, I’m not gonna get on for a while because I also need to recover. But they will be on tomorrow. And ayokong gumising sila na negative 'yung chat nila,” she said.

“Gusto ko masaya 'yung chat nila, and their family is as strong as ever, okay? You promise me that. Mag-comment kayo, promise. Protect my boys, my Code Black boys.”

Kylie also posted a statement on her TikTok Stories, where she explained that she was choosing her peace.

“I did my best everyone. But this time I choose my peace. I hope everyone still supports Ethan, Seung, and Johnny, respectively,” she wrote.

“I would like to ask that people exclude me from the narrative now. Maraming-maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagmahal sa amin. Mahal ko kayo,” she added.

‘Na-attach ako’

Kylie was candid about the reason behind her decision, admitting that she had developed an attachment to Ethan.

“Me and Ethan… ang hirap naman nito. Nagkaroon ako ng attachment, guys. It’s me. It’s not Ethan. But it’s unfair. It’s me. I got attached. I got affected. I caught myself adjusting. Because, super sensitive ako sa kanya when I watched him on his live,” she said.

The actress acknowledged that she had become emotionally invested in their interactions and was worried that allowing the pairing to continue could cause her deeper pain.

“I care too much, and I’m working on that. It’s me. It’s me talaga. Na-attach ako, guys. I don’t wanna get hurt,” Kylie said.

“Kapag pinatagal ko kasi ang content na ito, baka ako 'yung masaktan. Baka mas maging malalim pa ito or, you know... I don’t wanna do that. I didn’t come on this app to do that.”

Kylie also said she did not want Ethan to feel pressured because of her.

“Ayoko rin ma-pressure 'yung tao dahil sa akin. So, ako na 'yung bumitaw. I had to protect myself and also... hindi na normal 'yung tulog ko, guys. I need to focus on my real life again, guys,” she said.

“Kasi ang dami ko talagang binigay na energy, sa Code Black, sa KyThan.”

The actress ended her live with a message to her supporters, asking them to respect her decision and continue supporting Ethan, Johnny and Seung.

The emotional livestream was subsequently marked by phrases such as “KyThan signed off” and “Code Black signed off,” reflecting Kylie’s decision to step away from the TikTok community for now.
