Vice Ganda eager to produce more content with MVP’S Mediaquest

MANILA, Philippines — Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda is looking forward to producing more stories for the Filipino audience under a new two-year contract with Manny V. Pangilinan’s MediaQuest.
Under the deal, Vice will produce content for different platforms under the media conglomerate.
Along with MVP, present during the contract signing were MediaQuest Holdings, Inc. president and CEO Victorico Vargas and Slingshot Studios head for Partnerships, People and Business Development Ranvel Rufino.
“You have built an exceptional career with your exceptional talents. So, on your own, you built a distinctive brand, an audience that is not only nationwide but goes beyond the shores of the Philippines, which is a career that very few people can pursue in life,” MVP said.
“We offer to you the many platforms, television studios, streaming services, PLDT and Smart, various platforms that we can scale and reach.
“We offer something to you, a topic that is bigger, better, and different to entertain,” he added.
During their speech, Vice thanked the whole MediaQuest team for their trust: “I’m so grateful and super excited to be able to unleash every ounce of creativity, hard work and passion that’s still left in my soul.”
Vargas welcomed Vice with open arms and said: “For years, the industry has been competing with each other. Vice is an example of what we can become stronger together, what we can share and give our people with the best talents that this industry can give our people.”
“Vice is a gift to the Filipino people, his gift is laughter, his gift is fun, and we want to share his gift to as many people as possible and maybe in Kapatid, in TV5, with MediaQuest, we can reach as many people as we can and share the gift of Vice,” Vargas said.
“Vice brings to the people a compelling entertainment option. So, we’d like to be part of that gift to the Filipino people and we look forward with Vice on what we can build together as Kapatid and as one family working together,” he added.
Rufino added that the new venture opens up many exciting possibilities as their relationship is built on trust: “Slingshot has always had the privilege of working with Vice … and that experience has given us the love and respect to help make this thing possible. Likewise, MQuest knows what Slingshot can deliver.”
“So, today is not a leap of faith. It is three proven forces: Vice, MQuest and Slingshot, coming together, ready and poised to bring a new brand of entertainment to the Filipino audience. While television will certainly be an important part of this partnership, we see opportunities that go well beyond the screen,” Rufino said.
“Vice, of course, brings a unique creative voice and an exceptional connection with the audiences. And combined with me, the MediaQuest’s ecosystem, from free to air to pay TV, digital and social media... we have a strong foundation to create experiences that are relevant, engaging and distinctly Filipino. We are excited to get started to see where this partnership takes us,” he added.
Grateful
While thanking all of the MediaQuest bosses for their trust, Vice also recognized his home network, ABS-CBN: “I am also grateful to ABS-CBN for every learning na bitbit ko ngayon, sa every experience na mayroon ako ngayon, sa lahat ng maio-offer ko na nagsimula sa kanila para sa Pilipino.”
“I’m just so happy sa mga partnerships ko now and in the future, ABS-CBN will always be there to guide me and be part of every content and program that I will be doing,” he added.
Thanking MVP for the opportunity, Vice looked back on how they made amends after the ABS-CBN noontime show “It’s Showtime” went off the air on TV5.
“Masaya lang ako because we did have a not-so-happy experience in the past because, as we all know, ‘Showtime’ used to air on TV5 and then suddenly nawala. So, it broke my heart at that time pero ngayon nakakatuwa na, siyempre, ‘yung heartbreak na-heal. Nagkakaroon ng maraming learnings at puwede palang makabuo ng isang ganitong relationship after a heartbreak and I’m just super excited,” he said.
Vice stressed how unity is the key to helping keep the era of television alive: “Pareho lang kasi kami ng goal din eh. We’re only able to do that if we collaborate at pagsasama-samahin ‘yung iba’t iba naming kakayahan.”
Sinabi niya (MVP) sa akin na: ‘At this point, we just need to unite because I have what you don’t have and you have what I don’t have.’ So, let’s just unite because that’s what the industry needs for us to unite in order to survive. So, ‘pag pinagsama kayo, it’s a win-win (solution) for so many people,” he added.
For the Filipino audience
For Vice, the contract signing fired them up and gave them a lot of ideas for the future. As mentioned earlier, he’s expected to produce content across platforms under MediaQuest. Production for one project is set to begin by the end of the year.
He said, “This partnership gives me so much excitement.
“Dahil naniniwala ako na comfortability is the enemy of achievements.
“I hope I will be able to make myself and everyone who is behind this partnership really very proud,” he added.
Asked what kinds of projects can be expected under the contract with MediaQuest, Vice shared, “We need fun, we need laughter, every day to help you through the day. You need to laugh to escape every now and then. I will give that to you with the help and support of MediaQuest.”
With his long-running noontime program “It’s Showtime” airing on GMA Network and after recently renewing his ties with ABS-CBN, Vice clarified, “Parang hindi ako magiging kumportable kung wala ‘yung ABS-CBN and I’m very, very happy na sinusuportahan nila ‘yung request ko na ‘yun.
“May iniinda ngayon ‘yung industriya so kailangan ‘yung mga may kakayahan, kailangan nilang magsanib-pwersa— ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5, and other platforms.
Maganda ‘yung konsepto ng collaboration,” he said.
With the challenges faced by the media industry, Vice is eager to push ideas to the limit and win over Filipino audiences with the help of MediaQuest and all of the creative minds in the industry.
“We just need to challenge ourselves every day na gagawa tayo ng project na magbigay tayo ng ikatutuwa nila.
“Malaking bagay ‘to kasi parehas naming kinikilala ‘yung pangangailangan ng Filipino audience. For now, with all that’s happening in the Philippines, what they really need now is escape through entertainment.
We will give them what they deserve.”
