MANILA, Philippines — Government employees will have a few more days off during the holidays after Malacañang suspended work on Dec. 29, 2025 and Jan. 2, 2026.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto announced the additional days off in Memorandum Circular 111.

“In order to provide government employees full opportunity to celebrate New Year's Day activities and to allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country, work in all government offices is hereby suspended on 29 December 2025 (Monday) and 2 January 2026 (Friday),” the order read.

Government agencies responsible for basic and vital services, however, will remain operational.

The suspension of work in private companies will be at the discretion of their respective heads.

The holiday season is one of the busiest travel periods each year, with people flocking to airports and seaports either to go on vacation or to return to their home provinces.
