Celebrities get together in one-night concert for 'Yolanda' victims

MANILA, Philippines - Various artists and even athletes will get together in a one-night concert for the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) on December 1.

The benefit concert dubbed "Bangon Pinoy" will be held at St. Paul College-Pasig City on December 1 at 6 p.m.

The concert aims to raise additional funds and other forms of assistance for the millions of people affected by the Yolanda, one of the strongest typhoons in history.

The concert, organized by World Vision Philippines, Stages, Keystone Lodge and St. Paul College, will feature artists like Christian Bautista, Karylle, Jovit Baldovino, Bugoy Drilon, Tippy dos Santos, John and Camille Prats and UAAP Athletes Jeric and Jeron Teng and Keifer Ravena.

More than 4,000 people have been confirmed killed and 1,600 more were missing from the onslaught of the super typhoon.

The government said more than 10 million people were affected by the cyclone and four million of which remained displaced.

The super typhoon cut a wide swath of destruction across Visayas and some parts of Luzon after slamming into Eastern Samar on November 8.

The typhoon's storm surge, spawned by its extremely strong winds, almost wiped out Guiuan town in Samar and Tacloban City in Leyte.

Tickets to the benefit concert start at P250, P400, and P600.

Proceeds of the concert will go directly to the relief efforts in the affected provinces in the Visayas through World Vision.
