MMFF execom clarifies Eugene Domingo viral video
MANILA, Philippines — The Executive Committee of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) clarified that a viral video featuring Eugene Domingo was not an "In Memoriam" video.
"We've noted concerns regarding the video tribute featuring Ms. Eugene Domingo at the recent Gabi ng Parangal," the MMFF execom said in a statement on Monday.
The annual film festival held its awarding ceremony or Gabi ng Parangal last Saturday, December 27, in Solaire Resort in Parañaque City.
"This was intented as a tribute to luminaries both living and passed, and who have contributed to the MMFF over its 50-year history, not an In Memoriam segment," it added.
The MMFF execom listed the names of the artists it was giving tribute to, which included former president Joseph "Erap" Ejercito-Estrada, Christopher de Leon, Hilda Koronel, Ruel Vernal, Amy Austria, Vilma Santos, Charo Santos, Nora Aunor and Eugene Domingo.
"We hope this clears up any misunderstandings and allow us to focus on celebrating the film industry's achievements," it said.
