Vic Sotto confident of 'My Big Bossings'

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Vice Ganda already “claimed” his movie “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” will be number one in terms of box office in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

Meanwhile, Kris Aquino said she’ll be happy if her movie “Feng Shui 2” gets the number two spot.

But Vic Sotto said  he’s not setting any target for the box office returns of “My Big Bossing.”

“Hayaan mo na sila doon. Hindi tayo mahilig sa mga claim-claim, mga target-target. Basta ako, tiwala ako sa produkto namin na it’s a good movie,” Vic told Philstar.com and other members of the press recently.

More than the results of the annual MMFF Awards Night, the local moviegoers are interested in the box office returns of the entries in the annual movie fest.

The movies of Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda were the top grossers of last year’s MMFF.

Still, Vic, whose films are staple in the annual film fest since the early 2000s, said he never claimed his films will beat the competition in the box office.

“Never kong ginawa 'yan,” he said.

Vic added: “Hindi ako nagpapaka-plastic pero never kong sinabi na magna-number one. Nakakatuwa naman, nakaka-tsamba, pero never kong pinagyabang yun.”

“Yung mga nag-claim na number one, sige. Libre naman mag-claim, e.”

“My Big Bossing,” a follow-up to the 2013 MMFF entry “My Little Bossings,” sees Vic teaming up once again with child star Ryzza Mae Dizon.

This time, however, they will compete with their “My Little Bossings” co-star Bimby Aquino-Yap, who is part of “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin.”

Dingdong Dantes, the fiance of their co-star Marian Rivera, also has an entry in the MMFF this year.

But Vic refuses to see the other stars and films as competition or “kalaban.”

“Wala naman tayong kaaway sa industriya. Lahat kaibigan natin. I’m always willing to work with anyone. I always wish them good luck,” he said.

Vic added: “Isa lang ang industriya natin. Isa lang ang Metro Manila Film Festival. Let’s all work for the success. Mas mahigitan pa sana yung gross ng festival last year, na medyo may kalakihan pero kayang i-achieve.”

It was reported that the gross of the 2013 MMFF reach more than P1 billion.

“My Big Bossing” opens in theaters on December 25.
