Jake Cuenca hopes Pinoys will love indie film 'Mulat'

MANILA, Philippines - Jake Cuenca is hopeful that Filipinos will also love his independent film "Mulat," where he received a best actor award at the 2014 International Film Festival Manhattan last October.

The independent film is now being screened for the Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave section, Full-Feature category. It has started showing in Glorietta and SM Megamall cinemas and will run until December 24.

“We’re all very excited for everyone to see our movie kasi everyone in New York enjoyed it, so I hope the Filipinos enjoy it,” he said.

He added: “Sana suportahan ng mga tao lahat ng pelikula sa New Wave section ng Metro Manila Film Fest.”

The other films for the Full-Feature category are “Gemini,” “Magkakabaung,” Maratabat,” and “M. Mother’s Maiden Name.”

Meanwhile, Jake said he has already moved on after failing to get an acting award at the recently helt 28th PMPC Star Awards for TV for his performance in the primetime teleserye “Ikaw Lamang.”

He said he was “very disappointed” for not winning the best supporting actor award, which was bagged by his co-star John Estrada.

“I had a moment with it, I’m over it,” he said in an interview on Wednesday. “At the end of the day masaya ako sa mga nanalo. At the end of the day masaya ako na naging successful ang show. Moral lesson of the story is not to expect. I think at the end of the day just do your best.”

Jake drew flak from netizens after expressing his feelings against not winning the best supporting actor award.

“I was just [being] honest with what I felt, ayaw kong maging showbiz ang sagot ko and tell everyone na ganito or ganyan.”

He added that he put all his time and heart to the project.
