'Transformers Age of Extinction': Not just another sci-fi film

MANILA, Philippines- "Transformers Age of Extinction" is not just about the never-ending fight between the Autobots and the Decepticons, it is more "human" compared to the last three movies.

The makers of Transformers promise that the addition of the characters played by Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor is something that the viewers can get to connect  and relate to.

"Technology is advancing but there was such a strong emphasis on the human element and the emotional aspect of it and the connection between a father and a daughter,"  says Wahlberg who plays Cade Yeager.

"These are the kind of characters I can root for - this kind of ordinary guy thrust into this situation."

Meanwhile, Reynor says his charter may have friction with Mark. Yet he knows that a lot of guys would relate to his role- a guy who wants to prove to his girl's parents that he has clean intentions.

"Mark's character and I have quite the tentative relationship throughout the course of the film," Reynor said describing his role. "But it kind of culminates in us gaining a mutual respect for one another through our love of Tessa."

The story of "Transformers Age of Extinction" starts four years after the apocalyptic face-off between the Autobots and the Decepticons in Chicago.

The struggling inventor Cade chances upon Optimus Prime, which lead the Autobots, the Decepticons, and the government to his place. This discovery as well entangles them to the long-time fight between the two robotic clans.

With the Decepticons plotting another Earth destruction and the government gets paranoid after the Chicago ruins four years ago, Optimus Prime seeks the help of the ancient Dinobots to save Earth.

"Transformers Age of Extinction" is directed by Michael Bay and will open in Philippine cinemas on June 25.
