Marvel unveils the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

MANILA, Philippines - Marvel Studies has released online its first official photo of another team of superheroes, "Guardians of the Galaxy," which will be released on the third quarter of 2014.

The photo shows the five Guarians -- Gamora played by Zoe Saldana, Peter Quill/Star-Lord played by Chris Pratt, Rocket Raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper, Drax the Destroyer played by Dave Bautista, and Groot voiced by Vin Diesel.

An action-packed, epic space adventure, the "Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel cinematic universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits –- Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid;  the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.

As he plays cat and mouse with Ronan, Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the danger it poses to the cosmos. He then rallies the other four misfits to a last stand for the galaxy.
