SYNOPSIS: The film is the story of Hannah, a young Tsinoy (someone having both Chinese and Filipino family roots) who discovers that she has a half-brother and meets him for the first time on the last day of her father’s wake.
FILMMAKER PROFILE: Relyn A. Tan is the fourth child of six children. Her parents are both half-Chinese and half-Filipino. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film. Her short film, Para Kay Ama (For Grandmother) was awarded Honorable Mention for Narrative film during her graduation rites last April 2012 at the UP Film Institute. The film was exhibited in the Short Film category of the Cinema One Originals Film Festival last December 2012. In addition, Para Kay Ama bagged three awards at the 14th Ateneo Video Open Film competition --Best Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Narrative Short Film. It was also the only short film from the Philippines that was shortlisted in the 15th International Women’s Film Festival Asian Short Film and Video Competition in Seoul, South Korea. As of June 2013, Para Kay Ama is a finalist in the short film category of the 9th Cinemalaya Independent Film festival and was nominated for Best Short Film in the 36th Gawad Urian Awards. Relyn is an avid fan of food, photography, sports, concerts, swimming, and adventures. She loves the color red and is a multi-tasking Virgo. Relyn dreams to travel the world one day and is eager to make her next film.
