K-pop track ‘Golden’ makes another history with Oscar best original song

MANILA, Philippines — After winning Best Animated Feature, “KPop Demon Hunters” picked up another win for its official soundtrack “Golden,” named Oscar best original song.
The mega-hit song from the Korean animated feature is the first K-pop title to score the prestigious win.
The trio behind the fictional all-girl group/demon slayers HUNTR/X performed the Oscar-winning song before the category’s winner was announced.
“Thank you so much to the Academy for this insane award,” EJAE began, standing on stage with her fellow songwriters.
“Growing up, people made fun of me for liking K-pop, but now everyone’s singing our song and all the Korean lyrics. I’m so proud. And I realized, the song, this award is not about success; it’s about resilience,” she added.
EJAE intended her fellow songwriter Yuhan to take the stage and give his speech but he was cut-off by the a loud music and the program went to a commercial break.
“Golden” is written by EJAE and Yuhan with Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu-kwak, Hee Dong-nam, Jeong Hoon-seo and Teddy Park.
