InnerVoices releases 1st Christmas single

MANILA, Philippines — For Christmas 2025, six-man group InnerVoices recorded a video performance of the popular Yuletide classic O Holy Night to greet and thank their followers, including those who regularly catch their shows at music lounges around town. To their surprise, the video went on to rack up more than a million views on social media.
“That gave us the idea that we might as well release the song itself,” shared lawyer and InnerVoices original member Rey Bergado.
O Holy Night became the leading choice for their Christmas single. “We wanted a Christmas hymn that is traditional and at the same time flexible enough that we could give it our own touch and feel,” Rey said.
“We wanted the song to somehow include our personal touch and emotions,” he added. “That is why we thought of giving it our own words, giving it a unique flavor for the listeners.”
InnerVoices didn’t have to regroup anew just to record O Holy Night. They just decided to reduce their live stints and activities so they could focus more on creativity and their respective families.
“We’re not getting any younger. So, our bodies need to recover,” said Rey on the group slowing down. “After all, we’ve spent years doing grueling bar gigs and events.”
The band started in the local music circuit more than three decades ago. “We’ve been doing this since 1991, and we don’t see ourselves stopping and doing these things altogether. So, tuloy lang,” he beamed.
Though InnerVoices plans to keep the slow pace, they hope to come up with more original songs in the coming months.
When InnerVoices started as a mere college band, they never imagined going this far. Understandably, the group faced problems performing together through the years. The changing of the guards, particularly with their frontman, proved to be a major challenge each time.
The original singer, Red Miano, stayed with the band for more than a decade. “We’ve changed our vocalist three times in our history,” said Rey.
Meanwhile, the most memorable milestone for InnerVoices was winning the Awit Awards in 2015.
“The band played in different iterations in Japan and Singapore,” Rey continued. “The present ones did music festivals in the provinces. Guimaras’ Manggahan Festival, Bacolod, the Pintados Festival in Negros, Pamukad in Siquijor and other places.”
New frontliner Patrick Marcelino came in 2025 and blended with the group in no time. He wasn’t definitely a new singer. He performed in Singapore for nearly a decade, and he knew the members of the band even before.
InnerVoices is managed by Rey, who also joins the band onstage when they perform. Patrick is the soloist. Other members are Rene Tecson on guitar and sound engineer; Alvin Herbon, bass; Joseph Cruz, keyboards; and Joseph Esparrago, percussion. Edward Mitra is the arranger and musical director.
