Jeff Moses looks forward to doing more musicals
Jeff Moses plays the cosmopolitan Romer in ‘Bongga Ka ‘Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical.’ His character is one of the love interests of the female lead character Annie, played by Atasha Muhlach. The musical runs until Oct. 31 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT).

MANILA, Philippines — Jeff Moses has successfully crossed over from TV to musical theater. He can hold his own in the presence of seasoned and promising newbie artists. Jeff is able to deliver what recorded and live acting requires.

In a brief interview with this paper, the GMA Sparkle Artist Center actor expressed his delight that his turn to play the cosmopolitan, self-assured Romer in “Bongga Ka ‘Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical” had finally come.

Sam Concepcion and Anthony Rosaldo took on the role in the earlier shows of the musical, presented by The Philippine STAR, Viva and Newport World Resorts.

“And I’m just so grateful and happy that I have shared and performed on stage alongside with my co-artists and co-actors,” said Jeff. “Tinrabaho din namin ng matagal itong play (we’ve worked so long for the musical).”

When asked about his interpretation of Romer, he shared that “Yung passion niya is photography (my character’s passion is photography). Gusto niyang tulungan yung nanay niya (he also wants to help his mom in her fashion of house business) and wants the direction of the shop to be on the trendy side. What I can say is that Romer wants to pursue the things he wants.”

Aside from photography, the character loves to travel, and good thing is his work as a flight attendant allows him that as well. Romer is one of the love interests of the fe-male lead character Annie, played by Atasha Muhlach, who dreams to become part of the “in” and popular disco venue in the story and pursue a career in fashion.

Jeff Moses has shown what he’s made of as an actor by crossing over from TV to musical theater. The latter allows him to do his passion for singing, dancing and acting. The GMA Sparkle artist aspires to improve himself and to learn more.

“Dreamer din ako kagaya ni Annie (I’m also a dreamer like the character),” said Jeff, who is establishing himself as a reliable, talented actor.

He is also part of the action-drama primetime series “Taskforce Firewall” and will pursue his music career with Viva. Sparkle and Viva collaborate to make things happen for him, like doing musicals, as one may put it.

Since acting — be it on TV and stage — is a test of endurance, Jeff needs to be on his toes.

“During my free days, binabawi ko naman sa rest and fitness (I find time for relaxation and fitness),” said he.

Training for endurance and strength comes in handy in his role preparation.

“It’s part of my lifestyle, and it’s something I want to do, aside from (the performing) arts and my career (in showbiz),” said he about fitness. “(It) helps me. It also keeps me sane, and at the same time, it’s also my outlet outside of work. And fitness really pushes me to do more. I’m happy that I’m doing the things I want.”

Singing, dancing and acting are his passions. That’s why he’s glad to do all of them in a musical like “Bagets” and “Bongga Ka Day.” Jeff is thankful to his management, Spar-kle, for pushing and encouraging him to do more outside TV. He also acknowledges the help given by his coaches.

“I’m just doing my best to, of course, na makapag-perform and to get projects in the future.

To be honest, I’m really considering doing more auditions,” said he. “So, moving forward, talagang hinahanap-hanap na din ng sistema ko na (my system also looks forward) to (doing) more theater projects kasi nag-enjoy ako sobra (I’m truly enjoying it).”

Part of it is the camaraderie and bonding he and fellow musical artists have formed, encompassing the triumphs and challenges of mounting a musical.

“So, that’s something that I want since I love to take on challenges, and that’s me as a person. I really, really want to push myself, to improve and to learn a lot,” concluded he.
