MANILA, Philippines — Sparkle GMA artist Sean Lucas is sharing the hosting duties with established star Heart Evangelista for “The People Have Spoken.” He holds his own in the presence of the actress, fashion icon, reality show host and visual artist without any sign of jitters. Sean looks calm and collected.

“Every time, every episode, talagang may kaba (I’m really nervous),” said Sean of working with the multi-hyphenate artist in the original Pinoy “high energy” game show during a recent chat, facilitated by the Kapuso network’s publicity team. “She’s been super easy to work with, but still, she is Miss Heart.”

Aside from knowing how to navigate the show, from beginning till end, which includes the game mechanics, the hosts are expected to set the fun and energetic mood. They are also the source of engagement and excitement. While doing their work, hosts also get to enjoy every bit of the show.

“Masaya siya kasi (it’s fun since) people love to play games,” said Sean when asked to describe the excitement of doing “The People Have Spoken.” “I love to play games, and the fact that I get to do it as my job is super exciting. Plus, super exciting na ang kasama ko pa is Miss Heart and all the celebri-peeps. It is such a big honor to be in a room with them.”

The program also features celebri-peeps eventologist Tim Yap, beauty queen-host Joy Barcoma, podcaster-stand-up comedian Baus Rufo and event host-content creator Janeena Chan, who help the celebrity contestants guess the most popular opinions.

As for rating himself as a game show host with 10 as the highest score, Sean said, “I would rate myself, I guess, a good six, maybe. I have fun naman doing it, but I know there’s so much more room for improvement.”

How does he react and handle viewers’ feedback on his hosting and make sense of the comments?

“I’ve read some positive, I’ve read some negative,” said he. “I’m thankful for the people that were very positive, grateful for the people that were very supportive kasi nakita nila na (since they’ve seen that) I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I’m just trying to make the most of it.”

“But for the negative comments, I mean, aminado naman ako (I do admit that) I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, I can’t please everyone, and alam ko rin na (I also know that) I have so much more to improve pa. And I hope throughout the show, na mag-improve rin talaga ako at sana makita nila ‘yung growth ko,” added he.

Speaking of improvement and growth, which any artist should consider and aspire for, Sean had this to say: “I want to be a better actor, I want to be a better and more engaging host, ‘yung mas masayang panoorin.”

“I know there’s so much more to improve in terms of my diction, how I deliver my spiels and everything. I also have to find my identity rin talaga as an artist and also as a content creator,” added he.

Sean has acted and appeared in various GMA shows like “TiktoClock,” the one-of-a-kind countdown variety program. He is also part of the forthcoming series, “Whispers from Heaven.”

Please watch “The People Have Spoken” every Saturday night at 6:15 on GMA. Pinoys abroad can catch it via GMA Pinoy TV.
