Heart Evangelista, John Prats recall past romance

MANILA, Philippines — Exes Heart Evangelista and John Prats recalled their past romance as they sat down to talk about their first loves and breakup in the former's show. 

John was Heart's guest in her lifestyle and reality show "Heart World."

The former on- and off-screen pair admitted that they were each other's first love.

John admitted that he did not express his love properly because was still young at that time.

"First girlfriend ko si Heart. [Noon] kasi wala akong idea kung paano maging boyfriend. Nag-meet kasi kami ni Heart, I was 16, 15, ganyan. Pero before nun, lumalandi rin naman ako, kasi lalaki ako, e," John said.

"Pero dati kasi, over the phone, kasi hindi ako nakakalabas, ayun lang 'yung landi ko. Tapos kapag sinasagot na ako, natatakot na ako. Noong kami ni Heart talaga, ayun 'yung wala akong choice but to have her around.

"Noong naging kami, first time lahat. First time lahat ng pakiramdam, so hindi ko alam kung paano ibabalik 'yon sa kanya. Actually, 'yung pagkikita namin, effortless, kasi nga Monday to Sunday, we work together."

John said that he feels guilt whenever if he looks back on their past. 

"Sorry kung hindi ko nasasabi nung time na 'yon," John told Heart.

"Pero ngayon na tumanda na tayo, nagkaroon na tayo kahit papaano ng wisdom in our lives, doon na nakapag-look back and appreciate those things.

"Sabi ko nga, sa lahat ng naging ex-girlfriend ko, kay Heart ako walang masasabi. Wala akong masabi kasi siya talaga 'yung very giving, understanding, thoughtful.

"Simula noon, parang ako pa nga 'yung masama in a way na, you know, 'yung time na 'yon hindi kasi ako appreciative. I was really young, e. Playful."

The two also revisited their breakup.

According to Heart, their breakup happened at the height of their popularity as a loveteam.

“When the loveteam became officially hot, that’s when we broke up, in a sense," Heart said.

"Ako, nagka-non-showbiz boyfriend ako, siyempre dinadala ko sa taping. Ganti-gantihan lang naman," she added.

John admitted that he was deeply hurt and affected when he saw Heart bringing another man to the set.

He admitted that he came to the point where he regretted breaking up with Heart.

"We are loveteam for three or four years, I was young. Tapos parang dumating ako sa point na [nag-tanong ako], 'Ito na ba yon? Kami na ba talaga?' Then I wanted space. Tapos noong ibinigay niya, after a week, doon ko lang na-realize na hindi ko pala talaga kaya," he said.

"And then, ayun 'yung biggest turning point ko na noong ako na 'yung babalik, ayaw na niya. Hindi na niya ako gustong maka-work, iba na. After niyan, ginawa na niya 'yung 'Ang Panday.'"

In 2005, Heart starred in "Ang Panday," where she co-starred with her ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales.

In the end, John apologized to all the fans of his and Heart's love team, JoHeart.

"Kung iisipin ko 'yung magandang Heart na memories ko, siyempre kasi ako 'yung sumira, aaminin ko na. Pasensya na po sa mga JoHeart fans," John said.
