Gerald Anderson gets candid about his single status

MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson explained why he is still single, eight months after his relationship with Julia Barretto ended.

During a recent episode of "Stars on Stars," Gerald was asked by his “Blood vs Duty” co-star Baron Geisler if he is focusing on himself and his projects instead of entering a new relationship.

"That's the reason I'm single now because I want to become a better partner, a better person, a better son, a better brother, a better provider. Magagawa ko 'yan if I focus on myself muna," Gerald said.

"Like, sabi mo kanina 'ang dami mong ginagawa' kasi I'm building the life I want in five years. I want to be that kind of person. I want to be the best version, so I have to start now. So focus muna ako sa sarili ko," he added.

In a media conference last December 2025, Gerald said that he is not in a rush to have a new relationship.

“Being single right now, I’m taking time talaga to absorb, pag-aralan kung ano pa pwede kong i-improve bilang isang tao. I have to be the best possible person bago ako pumasok sa relationship,” he said.

Gerald and Julia dated for six years until their breakup was confirmed by their respective managements, Star Magic and Viva Artists Agency, last year.

He is one of the lead stars of the action series "Blood vs Duty" with Baron, Richard Gutierrez, Barbie Imperial and Bela Padilla.
