Aljon Mendoza looks forward to future after college

Young actor Aljon Mendoza is excited about what the future holds as he embarks on another exciting life journey. Another significant milestone is now unfolding as his long-held dream of completing his college education is within reach.
The former “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso” housemate will graduate in July with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Marketing Management, from the Philippine Women’s University (PWU).
“Kagustuhan ko po talagang ituloy at tapusin ang pag-aaral ko. Iyan ang lagi kong ikinukuwento, at may mga tao sa buhay ko na sinuportahan ako, tulad ng mga magulang ko,” he said.
I’m proud of Aljon’s tenacity in overcoming what seemed to be insurmountable difficulties he encountered as a working student. I’m blessed to be part of his college journey since 2023 as one of my scholars, with actress Kaori Oinuma. The idea of assisting young people by sending them to school began in 2000, and I hope it will create a ripple effect by inspiring them to help others once they are financially stable.

Mico del Rosario of Star Cinema introduced me to Aljon, who expressed his desire to finish his studies during our conversation. He went back to school in March 2023 after a five-year break.
“Matagal ko pong pinag-isipan ang kurso ko. May mga nag-advise noon sa akin na mag-Communication Arts ako. Pero iyon na kasi ang ginagawa ko sa trabaho ko dito sa industriya. Gusto ko namang pumunta sa ibang dako, which is marketing, production, and selling. Puwedeng sa products or talents,” he explained his reason for choosing his course.
Aljon believes in the value of graduating with a college diploma. Aside from securing the future of his family, he has something to fall back on when it’s time to choose a new career path for himself.
“Ang pag-aartista ko po ay walang kasiguraduhan ang bukas. Sa diploma na makukuha ko, mase-secure ko ang future ko. Meron akong ibang puwedeng puntahan,” he shared.
The actor makes several sacrifices in balancing his academics and his showbiz career. Juggling them was not easy. He recalled there was a time when he couldn’t accept a project because it coincided with his final exams. Aljon previously couldn’t comply with an important school task because he was in a lock-in taping/shoot.
“May mga araw na overwhelming dahil minsan, hindi ko na alam ang uunahin ko. Dumarating sa point na nagka-cramming na ako sa mga deadline sa school, pero lagi kong itinatatak sa isip ko na lilipas din lahat at matatapos din isa-isa.”
He is currently an intern at my talent services agency, where he is learning various skills like product development and content creation.
Aljon has been recently released from his contract. Right now, he is being advised by my talent management team and myself.
He revealed, “Gusto kong mag-try gumawa uli ng documentary. Three years ago, nakagawa na ako ng isa.”
One of his dreams is to do documentaries tackling diverse issues, from flood problems to the culinary wonders of Pampanga.
“And this time, mas ready na akong mag-dive sa paggawa at pag-cover ng mga istorya ng totoong buhay.”
The future looks bright for Aljon. I am excited about his journey, as the best is yet to come.
