BINI owns the stage in historic Coachella debut

Nation’s Girl Group BINI proudly raised the Philippine flag on the global stage with their historic debut at Coachella yesterday, solidifying their place in P-pop history as the first Filipino act to perform at one of the world’s largest music festivals.
When the clock struck 7:15 a.m. (Philippine time) on Saturday, fans across the world tuned in to witness Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Maloi, Mikha, Sheena and Stacey deliver an electrifying set that ran for over 40 minutes at the Mojave stage.
Dressed in striking golden outfits and donning the traditional salakot, the eight-member act made a powerful entrance, opening their set with Shagidi, before a surprise quick change into sultry, seascape-themed outfits for the rest of their performance.
“We are BINI… all the way from the Philippines!” the group declared, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“We are so grateful to be here to represent the Philippines on a global stage and to share with you our music,” Aiah added.
Throughout their set, BINI performed an all-Filipino lineup of tracks, including fan favorites Karera, Salamin, Salamin, and their breakout hit Pantropiko. The setlist also featured their new single Blush, along with pre-released tracks Out of My Head, Blink Twice, Cherry On Top and Bikini.
Their stage presence, synchronized choreography and live, stable vocals appeared to have captivated both dedicated fans and curious festivalgoers, many of whom were introduced to P-pop for the first time.
One of the standout moments came when Mikha hyped up the audience using Sheena’s viral self-made expression, “Eyyy,” energizing the jam-packed crowd.
Beyond the stage, BINI’s Coachella debut generated massive buzz online. The group topped Google search trends and reportedly sparked over two million posts on X within just two hours. Fans, also known as Blooms, mounted various projects in support of the group, including billboards, an aerial banner reading “BINI brings P-pop to Coachella,” and social media campaigns celebrating their milestone.
Filipino-American internet personality Bretman Rock was among those spotted showing support, even sharing a clip of himself vibing to Salamin, Salamin.
Meanwhile, several celebrities and fellow artists lauded BINI’s performance, praising both their talent and their role in bringing Filipino music to the international stage. Among them were P-pop trailblazers SB19, who wrote in a post on X: “BINIchella stage is another huge win for P-pop on the global stage! Congrats (BINI), you truly made the Coachella stage Blush tonight. Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino, sana’y magpatuloy ang panalo ng P-pop sa buong mundo!”
BINI’s appearance highlighted the group’s potential to break further into the global market.
What was once just a dream is now a reality for BINI, as their Coachella debut has come full circle. Long before stepping onto the iconic stage, the group had already manifested the moment in interviews and vlogs, boldly naming Coachella as a goal.
Following their performance, the members shared emotional messages online. “Thank you Lord,” Maloi wrote alongside a teary selfie, while Gwen simply posted, “Pilipinas!” alongside the Philippine flag emoji.
Hours before their Coachella debut, leader Jhoanna shared how their excitement and anticipation felt like they were going into a boxing match.
“Kidding aside, maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagpaparamdam ng support and love nila for BINI. Kinakabahan kaming girls pero mas lamang talaga excitement,” she added.
“Thank you for the overwhelming love and support! We hope we made you proud,” the group shared in a Weverse post following their performance.
Fans can look forward to another explosive set as BINI returns to perform on April 18 (Philippine time).
Alongside their historic Coachella debut, BINI continues a jam-packed global schedule, with the group set to receive the Global Force Award at Billboard Women in Music, an honor previously given to Sarah Geronimo and Jennie of BLACKPINK.
The ceremony is slated for April 29 at the Hollywood Palladium, just over a week after their appearance at the Grammy Museum’s “Global Spin Live,” where they will stage a special performance and promote their latest EP, “Signals.”
