With TV5’s “Sing Galing Sing-Lebrity Edition” reaching its finale, the six grand finalists reflected on the lessons they gained throughout the competition.

In an exclusive interview with The STAR, Nikki Valdez, Johannes Rissler, Sexbomb’s Monic Icban, Alexa Miro, Jay Gonzaga and CJ Navato shared the insights they learned since the show began airing last year.

“It’s just really to give your best in everything that you do, especially here,” began Nikki. “It’s not easy because it’s live singing so nandun lahat yung combination ng nerves mo at tsaka may kasamang hingal, may kasamang lahat. So for me, it’s really just showcasing the talent given to you and giving your best in everything.”

Alexa told this paper that the singing reality game show has taught her to simply enjoy her “God-given talent.”

“First of all, you have to enjoy whatever it is that you’re doing. You enjoy your God-given talent. It feels like you’re not working or not feeling the pressure of the competition because you love what you’re doing and when you are fighting for something bigger than yourself.”

Former “Goin’ Bulilit” child actor CJ Navato said the show served as a reintroduction of himself as an artist.

“I don’t think I’ve clearly introduced myself now. So I think that’s what they can expect — who I am now. I think they saw me grow up as a ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ kid. I guess I discovered more and more, and I think that’s what I hope they see — that I love performing and I’m ready to show that performance and I’m just having fun,” the 29-year-old theater star mused.

SexBomb member Monic Icban, on the other hand, described joining “Sing Galing” as a blessing because it gave her the opportunity to support her chosen beneficiary.

“There are different ways to help, like through this show where you join a singing contest and donate your winnings to your beneficiary. So ibig sabihin kung gusto mong tumulong sa tao, there are a lot of ways to do it and ‘Sing Galing’ can be a channel for extending that help.”

From pageantry to music, Mister Supranational Philippines 2023 Johannes Rissler teased that viewers can watch out for his “out of this world” finale performance. “Kantang pang labas ng bahay! Hahaha!” he said.

“From pageantry and now we’re on the singing side naman. It’s never too late to try anything and it’s great that I had this opportunity in ‘Sing Galing’ to show what I can do,” he added.

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” actor Jay Gonzaga, for his part, shared that he cherished every moment he spent on the show.

“I just enjoy every moment. I just enjoy the present. I don’t want to get to a point where I’ll regret not pursuing what I truly wanted to do,” he ruminated.

“Kahit paglabas ko dito, in the everyday life that I do outside, the lessons I’ve learned from ‘Sing Galing’ will always be with me and I will share them with my friends and loved ones. So enjoy every moment and be present.”

The finals night is happening tonight, March 22.

“Sing Galing” airs every Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6:45 p.m. on TV5, Sari-Sari, and Buko Channel. It is also streamed live on the “Sing Galing” Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok accounts.
