'Truth will set us free': Rhian Ramos breaks silence on driver, ampao issue

MANILA, Philippines — Rhian Ramos made her first remarks on the allegations made by her former driver in a controversy involving her and beauty queen Michelle Dee in relation to the actress' driver.
Last month Rhian's personal driver alleged Rhian, Michelle, and another beauty queen Samantha Panlilio repeatedly assaulted and "tortured" him inside the actress' condominium on January 17, causing him to contemplate ending his life.
The three women denied the claims, with Michelle even filing a blotter report against the driver, noting that he "physically harmed her on the right arm that left bruises and scratches and nail marks."
Another point of contention was whether the driver allegedly stole an "angpao" that contained sensitive photographs of the women.
Rhian spoke to entertainment reporter Aubrey Carampel after receiving an acting plum from the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards, acknowledging the last few days have not been easy for her.
"Well honestly, siyempre, sino ba naman ang matutuwa?" Rhian said, careful not to spill too much in the event another case is filed. "I can say, yes, it's in a way stressful pero I'm also quite confident na the truth will set us free."

The actress received the TV Actress of the Year Award for her role as Mitena in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," and managed to poke some fun during her acceptance speech.
"Thank God it's the end of snake year and it's now the year of the..." Rhian set up, showing the horse on the award she accepted. "What a way to start it... pa-angpao nga diyan, charot."
The jibe was similar to the banter Rhian and Michelle had when the latter posted a photo holding up an "angpao" for a bank's promotional shoot.
Rhian clarified to Aubrey that the banter stems not from the issue being funny, reiterating that the truth will come out and the dust will settle.
"It's just not the right time right now [to fully address it]," Rhian ended. "Honestly a lot of people are asking me to defend myself, the more important thing right now is not to defend myself, because I don't need to." — with reports from Jan Milo Severo
