What do celebrities think of love?

In the spirit of Valentine’s, allow the romantic fool in me to share some celebrity quotes on l’amour that I gathered, which hit my heart bull’s-eye. Even if you are LOVERless comme moi, don’t feel like you are LOVEless. Bask in the love of friends and family.
Happy Hearts’ and no more Hurts’ Day. Tis the season to be cheesy and mushy.
Eugene Domingo: “Husbands should realize that their wives treat them as their king and their baby at the same time. That ought to make men appreciate their wives more.”
Cesar Montano: “Having a modern family setup is not easy, but it’s the right thing to do. I am friends with all the mothers of my children. Peace is one of the best gifts ex-couples can give their kids.”
Dingdong Dantes: “When my wife Marian and I have disagreements, we always recall our wedding vows to remind us why we chose each other for keeps.”
Martin Nievera: “No one person redefines love. It’s places and situations that redecorate and re-landscape love and we all can’t help but fall. Love lessons are not taught and are not learned with roses and a box of chocolates.”
Richard Gomez: “It takes the right kind of woman to tame a man. It’s better to sow your wild oats as a bachelor. So, you will not fool around when you’re already married.”
Aiko Melendez: “A woman’s worth must not be measured by her status. She must feel whole on her own. So, she won’t need an ‘other half’ to complete her.”
Gladys Reyes: “Wives should not feel complacent. They must stay attractive. So, their husbands will stay and not stray. Dapat ang pantulog (lingerie) nila. Pampagising din ng ugat at dugo (laughs).”
Joseph Marco: “Di lahat ng nangiiwan, di nasasaktan.”
Baron Geisler: “Marriage and fatherhood are beautifully chaotic — in the best way. Fatherhood grounds me. Marriage has its challenges, but it’s full of grace.”
Carla Abellana: “My advice to women like me whose first marriage ended: Focus on your healing and believe that one way or another, the love you give to the world will always find its way back to you in more ways than one.”
Maricel Laxa: “Marriage is a marathon. Just like running, it requires endurance and perseverance.”
Barbie Forteza: “I will fall for a guy who will make me feel childlike again. One who is a safe place and adventure all in one.”
Ronnie Lazaro’s photo exhibit
My migo Ronnie Lazaro and I click because we have an “Ilonggo connection.” Even if I am a Manila Girl by birth, I am an Ilongga at heart. What a blast we had at the opening of his photo exhibit, “Lies The Truth,” at Avellana Art Gallery. It will run till the end of February. (The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.)
Ronnie will take his exhibit to Iloilo, Bacolod, Baguio and Davao. His colleagues came in full force to celebrate yet another milestone in Ronnie’s colorful journey. Spotted at the event were Edu Manzano and his non-showbiz GF; Alessandra de Rossi; JM de Guzman; Shamaine and Nonie Buencamino; Art Acu?a; Mae Paner; Jaime Fabregas and Dong Abay.
Ronnie’s exhibit plays delicious mind games. It whispers and nudges. The photos he took remind us that we cannot change people, we can only unmask them. In the uncomfy space between honesty and illusion, lies the power of “Lies The Truth.”
Here’s my chat with Ronnie:
Why is your exhibit called “Lies The Truth”?
“I’ve long been wanting to have a photo exhibit with my co-actors as my subjects. As actors, our eyes do the talking. So, for a change, I came up with faceless photos of my colleagues covering their faces. The title of my exhibit is so timely because so many lies are being masked as truth these days.”
Describe your exhibit in one word.
“Reflection.”
What’s harder: nailing a dramatic monologue or capturing the perfect shot?
“Monologues are harder. Taking photos is inspirational. Most of the photos I took were just one click.”
What feels more vulnerable for you, acting or taking photos?
“Both require sensitivity. As long as I enjoy what I do, it doesn’t matter if I can’t please everybody.”
Is there a lie we believe that your exhibit tries to quietly challenge?
“We all have little white lies that we tell ourselves and others. I hope that after seeing my exhibit, people will be (in) self-introspection mode.”
‘Hell University’ adventures
Say hello to hellish adventures in “Hell University” (HU), which is based on the web novel with over 179 million reads on Wattpad and the best-selling book penned by KnightInBlack. Its series adaptation, co-produced by Studio Viva and Webtoon Productions, is now streaming on Viva One.
HU is a school beyond the government’s control. From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., the ritual called “Bloody Night” takes place. All hell breaks loose.
Topbilled by Heart Ryan, Zeke Polina, Lance Carr and Aubrey Caraan, it is megged by Bobby Bonifacio Jr. Let them take you to the dark side and show you what it’s like to live dangerously.
Here are quotes from Heart, Zeke and Bobby:
Heart: “Since we shoot in an abandoned hospital, there’s no place to wash up. So, we get all sticky and sweaty. But when we see how the production team created our creepy setting to capture the vibe of ‘HU,’ we all get pumped up even when we feel a little discomfort.”
Zeke: “Heart has a boyfriend, and I respect that. We have built a connection for our partnership in ‘HU.’ I’m single and focused on my career.”
Bobby: “Some of the cast have a third eye, and they sense eerie elements in our location. Weird figures were even caught on a staff’s cellphone camera. But the shoot must go on.”
Heart: “I don’t think you can ever prepare for stardom. I just stick to my foundation, and I don’t dwell on expectations.”
Zeke: “We all feel pressure since we are all relatively new in the biz. But we use it as our driving force to excel.”
Bobby: “The book is really a page-turner. So, it’s quite daunting how to bring it to life. Even if it’s mostly gore, there’s still the romance factor. As the series goes on, viewers will realize that it’s not pro-violence and abuse.”
Sofia Pablo’s post-‘PBB’ era
Sparkle sweetheart Sofia Pablo lives up to her “PBB” (Pinoy Big Brother) moniker, “Strong Willed Sunshine,” even if she has already stepped out of the “PBB” house. Aside from charming her way into the hearts of her 7.6M followers on TikTok, Sofia is so ready to spread her joie de vivre in showbizlandia.
Here’s my chat with Sofia:
What’s your takeaway from your ‘PBB’ stint?
“There’s nothing wrong (with) being true to yourself. Even if you will have haters or bashers, what matters is you are being unapologetically you.”
What’s your most memorable moment inside the ‘PBB’ house?
“When we were all complete in celebrating the birthday of Caprice. We were like kids goofing around.”
What are your upcoming projects?
“Watch out for me and other ‘PBB’ housemates from Season 1 in the horror film, ‘Huwag Kang Titingin.’ My other projects are still under wraps.”
