'No question': Nadine Lustre would 'definitely' back Leni Robredo for president again
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Nadine Lustre expressed her support for former vice president and current Naga City mayor Leni Robredo should the latter choose to vie for the presidency again.
Nadine accompanied Mamayang Liberal representative Leila de Lima in filing bills strengthening animal welfare and establishing plant-based food programs in the Philippines.
During an ambush interview afterwards outside the House of Representatives, Nadine was asked if she would potentially endorse Robredo for president in the 2028 elections.
"Definitely, there's no question about that," Nadine said with a smile.
Pressed to explain her answer, Nadine described the former vice president as "the best candidate for presidency," noting how she backed Robredo during the 2022 presidential campaign.
There are efforts to convince the former vice president to run for president again.
"Let's see, well, that's up to her decision. Obviously we respect that," Nadine said, echoing her boyfriend Christoph Bariou's comments that "the best presidents are those that do not want to run."
"We'll see, we'll cross the bridge na lang when we get there because right now it's really hard to say," Nadine said.
After supporting Robredo's 2022 presidential campaign, Nadine supported de Lima in the 2025 midterm elections as Mamayang Liberal won one house seat, seeing the one-term senator return to legislation.
