Lea Salonga reveals separation from husband Robert Chien
MANILA, Philippines — Broadway star Lea Salonga revealed that she has been separated “for a while” from her businessman-husband Robert Chien.
Lea, who is among the star-studded cast of the return of the “Les Miserables” in the country, admitted to News5’s MJ Marjori about her marital status.
The actress talked about her son, actor Nic, who has been receiving a lot of support on his transition.
"He [Nic] has so much support... We're both super busy but, thankfully, the dad and dad's partner are the ones kind of 'Pag may sipon ka, it's here, let's send you food. Let's make sure that you're well,”’ Lea said, referring to her and her husband Robert’s support for their only child.
Right after this, Lea admitted her split from her American husband of Chinese-Japanese descent.
"Yes... So, yes, it's not a secret. I am... yeah, we've been separated for a while. And now he's happy and I am happy that he's happy," Lea said.
Lea and Robert wed in California in January 2007.
Lea is part of the star-studded cast of "Les Miserables: World Tour Spectacular" currently running at The Theatre in Solaire, Paranaque. The staging also features Filipino talents Rachelle Ann Go, Emily Bautista and Red Concepcion.
