Willie Revillame explains why 'Wilyonaryo' not airing on TV5
Manila, Philippines — TV host Willie Revillame revealed that his upcoming game show "Wilyonaryo" will not be aired on TV5 but instead on his own website.
During the press conference of his upcoming show set to premiere on January 25, Willie said that his decision was influenced by the change of leadership in TV5.
"Alam niyo naman nangyari sa TV5, change of leadership, 'di ba? So, ang kausap ko talaga doon si Ms. Jane Basas. So medyo... Ayoko sanang banggitin 'to, pero wala na siya sa ngayon. So, sigurado 'yung contract nun, e, medyo aaralin muna nila," he said.
Basas was the president and chief executive officer of MediaQuest, the mother company of the media arm of MVP Group of Companies. She resigned earlier this year.
Willie said that he understood TV5's decision because his new upcoming show has complicated gaming mechanics.
"Hindi ko itini-take na personal. Naiintindihan ko 'yun. Kasi mahirap talaga 'yung live streaming ka sa free TV kasi may gaming, e," he said.
"Pero okay naman sa TV5 kung walang gaming. In fact, ang talagang schedule ko dapat doon [ay] 7-8 p.m. [primetime slot].
"Nu'ng nalaman nila na mayroong bibili ng ticket at may gaming, siyempre you have to understand may MTRCB [Movie and Television Review and Classification Board].
"Baka ma-bash sila, 'Bakit mo pinapayagan 'yan? Baka feeling nila na, 'Sugal na 'to.' For me, hindi. It's a raffle game. Ang feeling ko dito, mas maraming mananalo, mas maraming matutulungan din, e."
