Jessica Sanchez visits Manila after ‘AGT’ win, gears up for major projects

MANILA, Philippines — Following her triumph in “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) in September, the Filipino-American singing star Jessica Sanchez returned to Manila to a warm and prestigious welcome, marked by a courtesy state visit to Malacañang Palace, hosted by Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. Her return underscored not only a personal milestone but also the Philippines’ growing visibility in the global entertainment landscape.
The President and the First Lady warmly received Jessica, engaging in conversations centered on cultural diplomacy, the global reach of Filipino and international artistry and the power of music in strengthening international goodwill.
Araneta-Marcos, a known advocate of Philippine arts and culture, expressed appreciation for creative collaborations that elevate Filipino talent on the world stage, while the president highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in building deeper regional and global partnerships.
Adding to the significance of the visit was Jessica’s striking fashion statement. She arrived wearing a custom couture creation by celebrated Filipino designer Francis Libiran, a look that embodied refined elegance and masterful Filipino craftsmanship, reinforcing the country’s rising profile not only in music but also in global fashion and design.
Jessica’s Malacañang visit coincided with a series of major engagements in the Philippines. She is set to headline the highly anticipated “New Year Countdown” celebration at the Marriott Ballroom, joining an impressive lineup that includes Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Cup of Joe and Billy Crawford.
The event promises a powerful fusion of pop, rock and contemporary sounds, uniting international and Filipino artists in a celebration of music, unity and the start of a new year.
Present during the state visit were key figures from the entertainment, hospitality and events industries, reflecting the collaborative effort behind Jessica’s Philippine appearances. Among them was Kevin Tan, president and CEO of AGI, executive director of Megaworld Corp. and chairman of Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc., whose leadership continues to play a vital role in positioning the Philippines as a destination for world-class concerts and international events. Also in attendance was this writer, Carlo Orosa, of Stages Production Management, a talent manager supporting Jessica’s local and international engagements.
Joining the delegation were Rosalia Gallardo, Jessica’s sister-in-law, as well as Mitch Hernandez, SVP for marketing of Newport World Resorts, and Joanna Marie Sy, vice-president for Events and Entertainment of Newport World Resorts.
Their participation emphasized Newport World Resorts’ commitment to bringing global entertainment experiences to Philippine audiences and supporting internationally relevant productions.
Beyond the ceremonial visit, Jessica also shared exciting updates on her upcoming projects. She is preparing for the release of her new album, slated for the first quarter of next year, signaling a new chapter in her artistic journey. The album is expected to showcase fresh musical directions while retaining the emotional depth and versatility that have defined her career.
Looking ahead, Jessica confirmed that she will return to the Philippines in May 2026 for a major ASEAN event in Cebu, further strengthening her connection with the region. Plans are also underway for a major concert. Details of which are expected to be announced soon — an announcement eagerly anticipated by fans and industry observers alike.
Jessica’s return to Manila, following her landmark “AGT” victory, and her courtesy visit to Malacañang Palace, went beyond ceremony. It was a celebration of artistic excellence, cultural diplomacy and the Philippines’ expanding role as a regional and global stage for music and international collaboration.
