'Goku ng Pinas' Jeff Utanes dies

MANILA, Philippines — Voice actor Jeff Utanes, the voice behind Son Goku of iconic anime "Dragon Ball", has passed away at the age of 46.
Utanes' sister-in-law Elizabeth Teodoro shared the news of the voice talent's passing on Facebook.
"On behalf of my sister Catherine and her children Jhulianne & Justin, we humbly ask for prayers for the soul of my brother-in-law Jefferson Seril Utanes. May the Lord grant him eternal rest and perpetual light. Amen," she wrote.
The cause of his death has yet to be disclosed, but Jeff posted on Facebook that he has chronic kidney disease.
Entertainment channel Ani-One Philippines also expressed its condolences to the family of Jeff.
"Ani-One Philippines stands as one with the anime and dubbing community during this time of loss. We honor Jefferson’s contributions, his love for the craft, and the joy he brought to countless fans through his work," the channel wrote in a statement.
"Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire anime community. Your spirit will live on through the voices you inspired and the legacy you leave behind. Rest in peace, Jefferson Utanes."
Apart from Son Goku, Jeff was also the voice behind "Doraemon", James from "Pokémon", Kosei Arima from "Your Lie in April", Ken Matsuhiro from "Yakitate!! Japan", Hisuka from "Hunter X Hunter", Kogori Mori from "Detective Conan", among many others.
