For the first time, my dear “Sis” Yayo Aguila opened up about her businessman boyfriend, Melvin Viceral, on my DollywoodPH YT Channel. I cannot thank Sis enough for trusting me with her story. I have never seen Yayo any happier. Melvin and she have been together for five years, but marriage is not on their agenda.

“I don’t believe in marriage anymore. From the start, I made that clear with Melvin,” Yayo revealed. “I’m just speaking for myself. I’m not telling women not to give marriage another try if they want to. It’s just not for me.”

Sis no longer has the urge to merge nor the itch to get hitched.

We also talked about our common “ex,” William Martinez. He was my high school boyfriend at the height of his popularity in the ‘80s. When Yayo and William split up as a married couple, Yayo told me in jest that she will return William to me. Then I chided her, “The three of us should do a movie called ‘Una Siyang Naging Akin.’” She harbors no bitterness towards her ex-hubby.

“William is no longer a part of my life. We don’t keep in touch,” she said. “But he will always be the dad of our four grown-up kids.”

I salute Yayo for raising her kids single-handedly. Seeing how well-bred her children are says a lot about the kind of mom that she is.

It was not an easy journey for Yayo. Not only did she survive, she prevailed. She found a way to bloom amid the gloom.

VMB’s Microdramas

Rhen Escaño’s ‘Akin Ka Lang’ is the No. 1 microdrama on Viva Movie Box (VMB).

Binge-watch an assortment of exciting stories on Viva Movie Box (VMB), the new home of the best Pinoy microdramas. Its initial offerings are “Akin Ka Lang,” “Elisa: Batang Kabit” and “Maid for Revenge.”

At the No. 1 spot is “Akin Ka Lang,” featuring Nathalie Hart, Albie Casiño and Rhen Escaño. It centers on an ex-girlfriend who is tapped to be a surrogate mom after her ex and his wife lose their baby. Sparks fly when the past and the present collide.

According to Rhen, in real life, she will only fight for someone she loves if he also fights for her. “I’ve had a toxic relationship where I kept giving until I had nothing left to give,” she said. “I’ve learned to love myself more. So, next time I fall, I won’t give it my all if the love is not reciprocated 100 percent.”

Next in the lineup is “Elisa: Batang Kabit,” which tells the story of a young woman whose innocence is swept away when she falls for a mysterious man twice her age.

Topbilled by Abby Bautista and James Blanco. Abby says it’s her most daring project so far.

“It’s about time I step out of my comfort zone,” she quipped. “Aside from being more palaban, I also had to adjust to a tighter blocking for the vertical format.”

Another part of VMB’s debut slate is the revenge-mystery, “Maid for Revenge.” It stars Rose Van Ginkel, Mon Confiado and Cara Gonzales. It’s about a seemingly trustworthy maid who enters the life of a married couple. But behind her gentle smile lies a hidden motive tied to her past. As she settles into their home, the maid weaves a web of lies and temptation, drawing both husband and wife into her carefully crafted trap.

The director of the series, Bobby Bonifacio Jr., shared what challenges him in VMB.

STAR colleague Christine Dayrit’s new travel book is a must-have for jetsetters.

“From the first scene, it has to be intense already,” he pointed out. “Slow burn is not allowed.”

Make way for the new “Stream Team,” VMB. It’s for the fast and the curious generation.

Book Launch

As my original quote goes, “Life is too short to stay too long in one place.” That could very well be the mantra of my dear friend and Philippine STAR colleague, Christine Dayrit. She launched her book, 60 Dream Holidays
Around the World, at Chef Jessie Rockwell. It’s a must-have for jetsetters comme Christine.

The stunning travel masterpiece is a celebration of 25 years of insatiable wanderlust. As my other original quote goes, “The world is better as a playground than a battleground.”

Ready, jet set, go. Viva la Vida Viajera
