AAA talent Jhai Ho to young hosts: Be kind and respectful

Jhai Ho has the gift of gab, which played a key role for him to foray and parlay into becoming a radio DJ and an event-program host. It also did serve as a starting point for him to try acting.
He belongs to the young set of hosts who can do engaging interviews.
After 15 years in show business, he has entered into a new chapter of his entertainment career by being a family member of the talent management agency, All Access to Artists (AAA).
“Actually, di ba laging sinasagot talaga growth, ganyan, at tsaka yung makapag-explore, ganun, (the usually answers are for growth and career exploration),” said Jhai Ho when The STAR asked him about the latest turning point in his career and why sometimes an artist needs to collaborate with a new team, in a brief chat. “So, parang part siya nang naisip ko (those are parts of what I’ve thought as a reason), pero kasi naging malaking factor talaga yung nung hindi ko pa manager sila Ate Jacqui, sobra na yung care and yung love niya sa akin (but a big factor, even when Ate Jacqui was not yet my manager back then, was her care and love for me)… hindi nila ako pinababayaan.”
The artist was referring to Jacqui Cara, head of operations and sales of AAA and the talent agency.
“Siguro ano, kasi kapag ikaw ang nag-manage sa sarili mo (or your career), parang hindi mo din talaga alam at na-check and balance kung ano yung mga dapat at yung pwede mong gawin (if you’re in charge of managing your career, you don’t also know how to navigate it and to do check and balance in what you should be doing and what you could do),” said the host, sharing that his previous management did well in taking care of him. “Dapat kailangan may someone na nag-gu-guide sa’yo (there has to be someone who will guide you).
With AAA, through its CEO and president, filmmaker Michael “Mike” Tuviera, Jhai Ho might give screen acting more time and will also work with its prized and up-and-coming talents.
As a talent, his forte, or core, is hosting.
Asked if there was a time in the past that he got tired of doing hosting or considered taking it slow, he said there was. It was back in 2018, after having hosted varied events such as mall shows, movie-and-TV presscons, media conferences and premiere nights from 2010, when he felt the need to recharge his batteries.
“Hindi pagod dahil ayaw ko na (it was not the kind of feeling tired because I didn’t want doing it), kundi yung pagod na literal na napagod yung katawan ko (it was the kind that my body was literally tired),” shared he, “na parang teka lang you need to slow down. Kailangan mo namang bigyan ng time yung sarili mo. Sabi ko, ‘Sige, i-rest muna natin, mag-spend naman ako ng time with my family’ (that it was telling me to slow down, to give myself time, to take a rest for the meantime and to spend time with my family).”
Taking a breather is important, even when he’s working abroad. He makes it a point that there are some days to free his mind from hosting. He and his team would find time for him to experience the sights and sounds of, let’s say, a country.
As for the young people who see a career in hosting or wish to enter into show business and become a success, Jhai Ho shared his pieces of advice, one of which is being kind.
“Kindness na kung saan yung pakikisama (in which getting along with others) is very important,” added he. “Hindi ka dapat pipili lang nung re-respetuhin mo (you should not choose the only ones you will respect), dapat lahat nung mga nakaka-trabaho mo at nakakasama mo (you should respect every person you’re working with).”
“Parang yung artista factor po ano lang siya glitz and glamour (the celebrity aspect of work is just glitz and glamour),” continued he, “pero ‘pag nandito ka, trabaho po siya (but once you’re in it, you’ll know it’s work). Parang swerte ka lang dahil ikaw yung gumagawa nung bagay na din-ream mo dati (you feel lucky because you’re doing something you’ve once dreamed)… dapat hindi lalaki ang ulo (never let success go to your head). Kapag lumaki ang ulo mo kasi talaga yun din ang mag-hihila sa’yo, eh.”
Although he has come a long way, one is excited to know what’s next for him with AAA.
“Marami pong niluluto si direk Mike (director Mike has a lot in store for me),” said he. “Nag-venture na din ako into business naman sa labas ng pag-aartista (I’ve also ventured out into business outside show business).”
“Ang next po siguro ay tuparin ko na po yung hindi ko pa nagagawa, which is my dream house for my family and for myself,” shared the loving son about another dream to fulfill.
Soon, it will happen given the grit, dedication and hard work he has shown all these years.
