In the spirit of fun, here are my Dollyisms on the buzz du jour:

Ellen Adarna shares screenshots alleging Derek Ramsay’s infidelity: From whirlwind romance to “gone with the wind.”

Ellen Adarna claims that Derek Ramsay gaslighted her: From “He lights up my life” to “He gaslighted me.”

Imee Marcos accuses her brother, BBM, of drug use: In their case, blood is not thicker than water. It’s the plot that thickens as blood boils and the water runs dry.

AJ Raval admits having three kids with Aljur Abrenica: After maternity, will she spend eternity with Aljur?

Anjo Yllana goes on a bashing spree against his former “Eat Bulaga” colleagues: Anjo ought to host his own show and call it “Sh*t Talaga.”

Derek reacts

I texted Derek to ask for his reaction to his estranged wife Ellen Adarna’s allegations of his infidelity and gaslighting. His reply goes: “I will not engage.”

Sometimes, silence is the best defense.

I also reached out to Derek’s fab ex (his last girlfriend before marrying Ellen), Andrea Torres and asked if she had any advice or message to Ellen. Her reply goes: “I think it’s best that I don’t say anything.”

Some things are better left unsaid.

Richard Gomez makes his movie comeback via Lino Cayetano’s ‘Salvageland. Elijah Canlas has started a mental health foundation in honor of his late brother JM

Goma’s movie comeback

It was such a delight to interview my friend from way back Richard “Goma” Gomez. Catch his episode on my DollywoodPH YouTube channel soon.

We reminisced about the good old days. Goma was surprised when I showed him some of our pictures taken in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

“Just like you, I treasure old photos. When (wife) Lucy was fixing our bodega, she wanted to throw away some of my pictures,” Goma said. “Kasi sobrang dami nakatambak. But I told her to keep everything intact. Even pics with my ex-GFs (laughs).”

After a seven-year hiatus, Richard makes a  movie  comeback. He topbills “Salvageland,”  which opens in cinemas on Nov 26. The high-octane action thriller megged by Lino Cayetano is a collaboration of Rein Entertainment and Viva Films. It also stars Elijah Canlas, Mon Confiado, Mccoy de Leon, Angela Morena and Cindy Miranda.

Goma and Elijah play father and son who are police officers. They are thrust into a brutal battle that could break them apart. Amid the struggle, will they still keep in mind the ties that bind?

Here are quotes from Richard, Elijah and Lino:

Richard: “I have always been a script-based actor. I read the script thoroughly before I accept an offer. I really like the story of ‘Salvageland.’ The material is worth being my comeback film.”

Elijah: “Our film shows how to bridge the generation gap between a father and a son. There were many moments when Tito Richard said that I reminded him of his daughter, Juliana, and in a way, he has become a father figure to me.”

Lino: “Our movie will make you wonder what it would be like to live in a place like ‘Salvageland’ where there are no laws. Will we still do good if all we have left is our conscience?”

Richard: “As a former mayor, I’ve seen police who are jaded with the system so they want to retire already, just like the character I portray. With all the chaos in our country these days, our movie is so timely.”

Elijah: “Unlike some veteran actors I’ve worked with who are prima donnas on set, Tito Richard is a breeze to work with. I imbibed his work ethic.”

Lino: “Richard wears many hats but our film serves to remind the public that he is an artist. From the first frame, it’s evident that Richard is meant for the cinema. The camera loves him. It’s an absolute joy to watch Richard do what he does best.”

Elijah’s mental health advocacy

In the episode of Elijah Canlas on my DollywoodPH YouTube channel, he revealed that just like his brother, JM, who passed away at 17 due to mental health problems, he also suffered the same plight.

“I was diagnosed with clinical depression years ago,” Elijah said. “I even got confined in the hospital. Thank God, I survived.”

Unfortunately, his brother did not make it. JM succumbed to depression and took his own life.

“After the tragic death of Emman Atienza, all the more I want to help people, especially the youth who are struggling with mental health issues,” Elijah pointed out. “In memory of my brother, we put up KULIT The JM Canlas Organization so we can save more lives.”

As a mom who has a daughter diagnosed with clinical depression, I know how tough the battle with mental health is. It’s an insidious thing. We must put an end to the stigma and seek professional help.

When people with mental health issues are having an “episode,” what they feel may seem weird and wrong to us, but it’s nonetheless real so we must validate it. Kindness is the antidote to their weakness.

For those who need help with mental health issues, here’s how to get in touch with Elijah’s foundation: [email protected], kviit_org (Instagram), (02)898-39910 and 0967-3848126.
