BFF Buboy (Cesar Montano) practices quality control in choosing movie projects. His track record speaks for itself. So, you can be sure that his latest film, “Selda Tres,” is worth watching. The Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival 2025 feature film also stars JM de Guzman and Carla Abellana.

Megged by GB Sampedro, it is now showing at SM City Fairview (12:30 p.m.) and Gateway Cinema 17 (8 p.m.) until Sept. 30.

“Selda Tres” is so timely because it exposes a system plagued by corruption and injustice. Talk about art imitating life.

Here’s my chat with Buboy:

How is “Selda Tres” relevant these days of the corruption scandal?

“‘Selda Tres’ is about injustice and corruption also. My half-brother in the movie, played by JM, was set up and he got imprisoned. We made an appeal on his case to the higher court, hiring a lawyer played by Carla.”

What’s your takeaway from your role?

“It’s a good story about two brothers trying to salvage their strained relationship in the midst of violence and catastrophe.

“My takeaway here is time and communication are important factors if you intend to establish a good relationship. It will protect and fortify any relationship, whether it’s friendship, mother-daughter, father-son, etc.”

Please share amusing off-cam anecdotes. “When JM and I were about to do our first scene together, he told me, di daw sya makapaniwala na he is doing a movie with me. Sabi ko di rin ako makapaniwala na sobrang kahawig nya si John Estrada. I asked him in jest, ‘Hindi ka kaya anak ni John?’ We both had a good laugh.”

My nth debut

I turned a year zanier last Sept 22. I opted to have an intimate birthday dinner instead of a big party. My celebration was held at my new fave resto in the metro, Brutal (near UDMC Hospital).

All the dishes created by Chef Wadoughs are too delish for words. Brutal’s vibe will make you chillax to the max.

I only invited BFF Buboy, his fab GF, Kat Angeles and his brothers, Kuya Noel, Kuya Jing and their wives, Tere and Nica, and Bestie Alvin Anson. Of course, my grown-up kids, Ice and Bianchi and our fur baby, Beanie were around. The highlight of the night was when Ice, Buboy and Alvin interviewed me for my DollywoodPH YT Channel. For a change, I was the one in the hot seat. Catch our fun episode on my vlog soon.

It was a stormy night during my fête but my kids, BFF and his fam and Bestie braved the rain to celebrate with me. Just like they have always stood by me through all the storms of my life. The flood outside was nothing compared to the way their presence flooded my heart with joy.

Andres Muhlach and Ashtine Olviga are certified ‘kilig providers.’ Kilig levels rise in their big-screen debut, ‘Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna,’ directed by JP Laxamana

Movie debut of AshDres

Andres Muhlach and Ashtine Olviga, a.k.a. “AshDres,” are certified “kilig providers.”

Kilig levels rise in their big-screen debut from Viva Films, “Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna,” now showing in cinemas.

Written and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, it is about a high school crush that blossoms into a heartfelt, complex relationship that spans into college, where love collides with the woes of adulting. Make way for Amor à la AshDres. Here are quotes from Andres, Ashtine and Jason Paul:

Andres: “Anything is possible to happen between Ash and me. We genuinely enjoy each other’s company and we have become more comfy with each other after shooting our film.”

Ashtine: “During our shoot, I saw the goofy side of Andres. He is a natural comedian. He cracks jokes non-stop.”

Jason Paul: “Andres and Ashtine are superstars in the making. I see the magic in their tandem every time we shoot. Bringing out the kilig factor in their scenes is the least of my worries because they can do it on their own naturally.”

Andres: “I am more excited than pressured for my very first movie. It was my childhood dream to be on the silver screen, so now that it’s finally happening, I can say that I’m living my dream.”

Ashtine: “Andres and I felt our lines and scenes 100 percent. It didn’t feel like acting at all. We got caught up in the moment and savored it.”

Jason Paul: “I thought Andres (was) not the type who could cry easily. So, I got surprised that during his crying scene, he gave it his all with no retakes. He surpassed my expectations.”
